The Broks will move to a smaller farm near Georgetown, Ky., to be closer to their daughters.

Diamond B's roster in 2021 included Boisterous, Eastwood, Rowayton, Social Inclusion, Talent Search, and Uptowncharlybrown, all of which have been relocated to new farms.

The Broks purchased the 100-acre Diamond B property when Glenn was about 25. The operation was perennially one of Pennsylvania's leading breeders, taking home the top spot in 2017. Notable horses foaled at the farm include Grade 1 winner Real Solution, Grade 2 winner Emotional Kitten, and Grade 3 winner Hollywood Talent.

Pennsylvania's crop of 2-year-olds has begun to stretch its legs on the racetrack, and they've proved that a precocious starter can provide a fast and bountiful return on investment through state incentive programs.

In just two career starts, the juvenile For the Dreamers has earned $41,664 in incentive money based on his status as a Pennsylvania-bred and -sired runner, leading his class through the end of August.

For the Dreamers, a gelding by Talent Search out of the Uptowncharlybrown mare Avery's Smile, emerged as one of Pennsylvania's fastest-starting 2-year-olds, after running second by a neck on debut in a 4 1/2-furlong Parx maiden special weight on June 28. He then graduated in impressive fashion with a drawing-away 4 1/4-length score in a five-furlong July 21 maiden special weight at the same track.

For the Dreamers races as a homebred for Uptowncharlybrown Stud, and he is trained by Edward Coletti Jr.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

The majority of For the Dreamers' Pennsylvania incentive earnings have come in the form of breeders' awards, of which he has made $23,520 in just two starts.

In the case of For the Dreamers, being both Pennsylvania-bred and -sired meant breeder Uptowncharlybrown Stud received a 50 percent bonus on the purse earnings for races run in the Keystone State. With a win and a second in maiden special weight company, both with purses of about $55,000, For the Dreamers' breeder stood to benefit nicely, even if the gelding wasn't a first-out winner.

Uptowncharlybrown Stud also picked up $13,440 in owner bonuses through For the Dreamers, in which the owner of a registered Pennsylvania-bred picks up a 40 percent purse bonus through the racetrack for running at Parx.

Rounding out the bonus money generated by For the Dreamers was the $4,704 that went to Glenn Brok of Diamond B Farm in stallion awards as the owner of sire Talent Search. Through the end of July, Talent Search had brought in $44,487 in stallion awards, the fifth most among Pennsylvania stallions up to that point.

Dance Code, the horse that beat For the Dreamers in his debut start, sat in third on the incentive earnings list through Aug. 31, with $18,900 in Pennsylvania-connected earnings for his connections. The Honor Code colt races for owner Richie's World Stables, and he was bred in Pennsylvania by Blackstone Farm.

Dance Code has raced once in Pennsylvania, winning on debut before venturing out to the East Coast, where he finished third in the Grade 3 Sanford Stakes in Saratoga. For his first win at Parx, Dance Code picked up $10,080 in owners bonuses and $8,820 in breeders' awards.

Dr. Steve made just one start before the end of August, but he made it count, finishing second on the list with $21,600 in incentive earnings.

The Jump Start colt won a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight on debut at Parx as a homebred for Dr. Stephen Morrone, Dan Kimball and John Spendolini.

The partnership that owns and bred Dr. Steve brought in $18,000 in breeders' awards, while Northview Stallion Station, which stood the late Jump Start, earned $3,600 in stallion awards.

Chris Griffin, track announcer at Sam Houston Race Park, joins Ray Paulick and Joe Nevills on this week's edition of The Friday Show in the wake of the historic deep freeze that wreaked havoc with the electrical grid and water supply in Houston and other Texas cities.

“It was a unique situation, a bit scary at times, but we got through it,” Griffin said. “Your immediate thought if you're involved with horse racing – and it should be – is how are the horses going to be handling the conditions and what we are going to go through.”

Fortunately, an emergency plan was in place, and the backstretch community rallied to make it work. “Last week was a very trying, difficult time where we all had to work together,” he said.

After four lost racing days, the action resumed this week, just in time for Saturday evening's Texas Preview Day, and Griffin provides some insights on the 12-race card featuring five stakes for Texas-breds.

Finally, bloodstock editor Joe Nevills gives a toast to Spendthrift Farm's Vino Rosso in our new segment spotlighting the stallion's first foals.

The Korean stallion ranks will gain a pair of notable members from America's Mid-Atlantic region in 2021, with the recent import of Flashback and Dortmund.

According to records kept by the Korea Racing Authority, the stallions arrived in the country on Jan. 19.

Flashback, an 11-year-old son of Tapit, previously stood at Diamond B Farms in Pennsylvania after beginning his stud career at Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Kentucky.

He is best known as the sire of British Idiom, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2019, who secured the Eclipse Award off a campaign that included victories in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and Grade 1 Alcibiades Stakes.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Flashback has sired four crops of racing age, with 88 winners and combined progeny earnings of more than $5.4 million. Beyond British Idiom, his most successful runners include Grade 1-placed Boujie Girl, Grade 3-placed Tripwire, and stakes winner Richiesgotgame.

Flashback won two of seven starts during his racing career, earning $405,730 highlighted by a victory in the G2 Robert B. Lewis Stakes. His three additional graded stakes placings include a runner-up effort in the G1 Santa Anita Derby.

Bred in Kentucky by William Andrade M.D. and Michael Hernon, Flashback is out of the Mr. Greeley mare Rhumb Line, making him a full-brother to Grade 1 winner Zazu.

Dortmund, a 9-year-old son of Big Brown previously stood at Bonita Farm in Maryland, where he entered stud in 2018. His first foals will be 2-year-olds of 2021.

One of the top runners of his crop, Dortmund won eight of 16 starts for earnings of $1,987,505. He entered the 2015 Kentucky Derby unbeaten in his first six starts, which included the G1 Santa Anita Derby and Los Alamitos Futurity, the G2 San Felipe Stakes, and the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes.

Dortmund left the gate in the Kentucky Derby as the betting public's second choice, and he finished third behind eventual winner American Pharoah. He then finished fourth behind the eventual Triple Crown winner in the Preakness Stakes before getting some time off for the rest of the summer. The colt finished the seasons with wins in the non-graded Big Bear Stakes and the G3 Native Diver Stakes.

Dortmund was never able to capture the same spark in later campaigns, though he hit the board in three graded stakes at age four, including the G1 Pacific Classic and Awesome Again Stakes, before finishing fourth in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita Park.

Bred in Kentucky by Emilie Fojan, Dortmund is out of the stakes-winning Tale of the Cat mare Our Josephina.

Flashback and Dortmund will join multiple Grade 2 winner Race Day, also a son of Tapit, among Korea's incoming stallions of 2021 with prior experience standing in the U.S. Race Day arrived in the country in December.

Pennsylvania boasts one of the country's most lucrative incentive programs, and two farms that have invested heavily in stallions reaped the biggest rewards during the first 11 months of the previous year.

Northview Stallion Station, which closed its Pennsylvania operation at the end of last year's breeding season, led its peers comfortably by combined breeder and stallion awards, with $272,745.60.

What made Northview's standing especially impressive was that its incentive earnings came exclusively through stallion awards. That was helped greatly by the late sire Jump Start, a perennial leader in the Keystone State, who once again finished atop the sire list by earnings a year after his death.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

Among Jump Start's best runners of 2020 was the Pennsylvania-bred colt Fire's Finale, who capped off his season with a closing score in the Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes at Parx Racing. He earned $108,315 on the racetrack during his juvenile season.

Glenn Brok of Diamond B Farm finished second by combined awards, earning $197,405.12. The majority of those incentives came from breeders' awards, but the Diamond B operation stands several of the state's top stallions.

The biggest contributor to Diamond B's stallion awards in 2020 was veteran Talent Search, whose runners were led by stakes-placed Final Shot. Diamond B also stands Uptowncharlybrown who has two seasons on offer in the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association's stallion season auction.

Glenn and Becky Brok have announced that Rowayton, a Grade 1-placed son of leading sire Into Mischief has been retired and will enter stud in 2021 at their Diamond B Farm in Mohrsville, Pa.

Bred in Kentucky by H. Allen Pointexter, Rowayton was produced from the Indian Charlie mare, Rosemonde, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner and Canadian champion Miss Mischief. He was a $320,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling purchase by Larry Best's OXO Equine in 2017.

Rowayton won his first start in a maiden special weight race at Del Mar and in his second start was runner-up to champion Game Winner in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity after leading until deep stretch. He ran third behind Game Winner again in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes in his third start.

Raced mostly in New York in his 3-year-old season, where he began with a sharp allowance victory at Belmont Park clocked in 1:14.94, Rowayton ran third behind Code of Honor in the G3 Dwyer and fourth to Mind Control in the G1 H. Allen Jerkens.

<ins data-revive-zoneid="166" data-revive-id="b284fa4ee2b53b5c0fb16aa42e76910a"></ins>

“Rowayton displayed his brilliant speed winning at Belmont Park where he was only 2/5 over the track record blazing 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:14 4/5 when he was trained by Don Chatlos,” said Glenn Brok. “His sire is enjoying incredible success and being from the family of champion Proud Spell, we feel like he will be a very important addition to the stallion ranks in the Mid-Atlantic region.”

Rowayton will enter stud for an introductory fee of $5,000. The Broks will announce a breeding incentive plan for breeders to earn a lifetime breeding right in the near future.
